White River Junction — Perkinsville resident Dale Adams Jr., a convicted sex offender who last week escaped the supervision of the Vermont Department of Corrections, was taken into custody without incident on Saturday after being spotted on Connecticut River Road in White River Junction.

According to a Hartford police news release, Adams was turned over to the Department of Corrections and taken to the Southern State Correctional Center in Springfield, Vt.

Vermont State Police said Thursday night that Adams, 28, who had been placed on furlough, hadn’t returned to his approved residence on May 6 and attempts to contact him failed.

On May 9, the corrections department placed Adams on escape status. He was considered at high risk for re-offending, Vermont State Police said.

According to the Vermont sex offender registry, Adams was convicted of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child in 2012.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
