Manchester, Vt. — Forgive Woodstock High girls lacrosse coach Amanda Soule if she’s feeling a little whiplashed this morning. Her Wasps really gave her neck a workout at Burr & Burton on Friday afternoon.

Woodstock started by scoring the game’s first six goals. The host Bulldogs pulled three back just before halftime, then surged to an 11-8 lead as regulation wound down. But the Wasps never quit, striking three times in the final minutes to force overtime, which BBA’s Shayla Heekin decided after 87 seconds in the home team’s favor, 12-11.

“Obviously, it’s a bummer that we didn’t pull off the win, but we played phenomenally and fought to the very last second of the game,” Soule said.

“I’m super proud of them no matter what. They played a really good game.”

Grace Vosburgh scored six goals on the day, getting Woodstock off to a quick start on the BBA turf. She also had a role in forcing overtime, notching the tying goal with 13 seconds left in regulation after Kallan Piconi scored both of her goals to get the rally going in the final three minutes.

Lily Doton, Rosalie Geiger and Nikki Sweeny also scored for Woodstock, while Piconi and Miranda Johnson posted assists. Goaltender Megan Dalton knocked aside 14 shots.

Woodstock (4-5) hosts U-32 on Monday.

Derry, n.h. — The Marauders stayed with the perennially powerful Astros through the first half, but the hosts launched Hanover in the second with 10 unanswered goals.

Brian Seltzer’s hat trick accounted for all of the offense for Hanover, which trailed only 5-3 at the half. Jake Acker, Reed Winter and Griffin Johnson posted assists.

“They picked it up in the second half,” Hanover coach Ryan Gardner said of the Astros, owners of an NHIAA-best 10 state boys lacrosse championships, including last year’s. “We didn’t have answers for their possessions.”

Zander Lingelbach-Pierce finished with 18 saves for the Marauders, who go to Dover on Tuesday.

Leto Makes All-Region Team

Hanover — The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association placed Dartmouth senior Jaclyn Leto on its all-Northeast Region first team on Friday.

The honor represented a promotion for Leto, who had been all-region second-team the past two seasons. The unanimous Ivy League midfielder of the year and all-league first-teamer drove Dartmouth from both ends of the field this season, scoring a league-leading and career-best 53 goals to go with career highs in a number of other categories.

On the eve of the NCAA tournament, Leto ranks first in all of Division I women’s lacrosse in free-position goals per game (1.13) and third in goals per game (3.53).
