Bradford, Vt.
With the score tied at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Cudhea started a game-winning rally for Thetford with a leadoff walk. Cudhea advanced to second on Alden Nichols’ sacrifice bunt and then stole third. The go-ahead run now 90 feet away with just one out, senior Jack Sweet did the job of making contact to score Cudhea on a groundout and put the Panthers up by one.
Boyce started on the mound and got the win for Thetford. Boyce finished with 6 innings pitched, scattering seven hits and giving up two walks while striking out one and allowing three earned runs. Sweet then came in for the final out, inducing a ground ball to shortstop for the save.
“This is a big win for us; it’s always nice to beat a rival on their home field,” Thetford coach Phil Chaput said. “It was hard-fought, but we stayed together the whole game, played solid D and were able to get the win.”
Neither team led by more than a run. Thetford started with a run in the first inning on Sweet’s RBI double only to see Oxbow answer in the second to knot things up at 1-1. Both teams scored a single run in the third inning and added another in the middle innings to knot things up into the last.
Erik Lindahl was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Panthers. Cudhea finished with a hit, a walk and two runs scored.
Lincoln Ilsley started for Oxbow and was relieved by Hayden Tomlinson. Eddie White and Chris Underhill each had two hits.
Thetford (2-5) hosts Lamoille on Saturday.
Langdon, n.h.
Rossiter struck out three against two walks and gave up seven hits. “He pitched an absolute gem and did a great job keeping them off-balance all day,” Newport coach Jon Hamel said.
Tyler Maheu had two hits for the Tigers. Freshman J.T. Blaine was called up from junior varsity to make his varsity starting debut at second base and went 1-for-3. Hamel praised the work catcher Dawson Campbell for his pitch-calling and for several nice blocks of balls in the dirt to prevent Fall Mountain runners from advancing.
Newport (1-4) hosts Conant this afternoon.
Chelsea, Vt.
Dametres Perry led off the eighth inning with a double. Lucas Streeter walked and Dashiel Fukushima followed with an RBI single. Colin Gould would add an RBI on a walk and Wiatt Suich had an RBI groundout to put Rivendell in front by three runs.
Fukushima pitched the first 7 innings before hitting his 120-pitch cap, striking out 10 while walking just three. Colin Gould got the last out, picking up the save when he induced a pop up.
Jake Kilmer had a two-run single in the first inning to give the Raptors an early lead. Down 3-2 in the sixth, Fukushima tied things up with an RBI on a fielder’s choice ground out.
Rivendell (1-6) visits South Royalton on Tuesday.
Plainfield, Vt.
Scoskie went the first six innings, striking out 15 while walking two in a dominant performance. Small struck out two in his inning of relief.
Nicholas Howe led the Royals’ attack, going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Dalton McDougall added two doubles and an RBI. Scoskie had a double, a triple and drove in one. Junior Michael Hemond had his first varsity hit, an RBI single.
SoRo hosts Rivendell on Tuesday.
Woodstock
Balch pitched a complete-game four-hitter, striking out two while walking just two. Andy Seiple singled and scored a run. Anthony Hendrick had an RBI single. Balch and Owen Tarleton also had hits.
Woodstock hosts MSJ today.
Plainfield, Vt.
Freshman Mikayla Christie led off the game-winning rally with a single. Paige Ballentine and Bailey Wing added singles. Mara Southworth soon followed with a two-run double to put the Royals in front 17-16.
Wing finished 3-for-6 with three runs scored and stole two bases. Summer Spaulding had three RBIs on two hits and scored a run. Anna Meeks added two hits and two RBIs.
The Royals host Rivendell on Tuesday.

Bourgeois was 5-for-6 with a triple and two home runs to finish with nine RBIs. Kayleigh Trojanowski scored four runs, had three singles and drove in one run. Madison Fornwalt pitched the first three innings, walking one and striking out seven. Bourgeois struck out three in two perfect innings of relief.
Oxbow visits Lyndon today.
Rutland
Emily Anderson slugged a solo home run over the left-field fence for the Jacks. Kacie Charest scored two runs. Erin Wierzbicki was 2-for-3 with a double. Becca Rumrill pitched four innings of scoreless relief for Windsor.
“We settled down behind (Rumrill) and made some nice plays defensively,” Windsor coach Phil Hathorn said. “We could have folded up the tent down big early, but we didn’t. Just need to do the things we’re capable of right from the start.”
Windsor hosts Fair Haven at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Norwich
Brittany Richard also had a single for Hanover. Bri Elder turned a double play in the fourth inning. Wilson started in the circle, facing 37 batters in her five innings of work.
The Marauders host Trinity on Friday.
Langdon, n.h.
Stephanie Carl was 2-for-4 with a three-run home run to lead the Newport attack. Carl also pitched six innings of two-hit ball, striking out 12.
Emma Carroll was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Megan Howard added two hits and scored twice. Brooke Beaulieu had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three. Kendall Hamilton doubled and had two RBIs.
Newport hosts Conant today.
Woodstock
Frazier fell to Brattleboro’s Kelsey Hammond, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 16-14. Frazier was down, 1-4, in the first set before rallying to win the tiebreaker. The deciding third set featured multiple ties, including at 14-14, before Hammond rallied with two straight points to get the victory.
“They both played well. Grace has been up against some really quality players as a sophomore and has done very well,” Woodstock coach Tom Hopewell said.
Morgan Mackenzie-Biele (6-1, 6-1), Morgan Hartman (6-2, 6-0), Sarah Findeisen (6-0, 6-2) and Haley Usilton (6-0, 6-2) all won in singles for the Wasps. Katey MacMaster and Chloe Noble won 6-2, 6-2 in doubles. Emma King and Elise Geschardt added a 6-4, 6-1 victory to close out the win.
Woodstock visits Burr & Burton on Friday.
Boys Tennis
Hanover
Graham Dickson withstood a strong effort from Keene’s Patrick Hamill to win 8-5 at No. 1 singles. Benny Gantrish fell at No. 2 singles, 8-5, to Noah Waller. Everything else went Hanover’s way, with John He (8-2), Aidan Biglow (8-1), Matty Siegel (8-1) and Jasper Meyer (8-1) all winning their matches.
Dickson and Gantrish added an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. He/Biglow and Siegel/Will Bonner each rolled to 8-0 wins. Hanover (5-1) visits Exeter this afternoon.
Rutland
Woodstock led 5-0 in the early going and 9-4 at halftime. Rutland never got within three goals after the Wasps’ early scoring burst.
Nikki Sweeny added three goals and an assist for Woodstock. Kallan Piconi had two goals and two assists. Grace Vosburgh and Lily Doton each scored twice. Abby Kaija added a goal. Goalie Megan Dalton had 10 saves.
The Wasps now look ahead to a rematch of last season’s Vermont Division II state championship game, won by Woodstock, when they host Stowe on Monday.
Hanover
Eli Silovich added two goals. Graham Penfield, Reed Winter, Jake Acker and Brian Pattison each had a goal and an assist. Brian Seltzer, Colin Rozzi, Griffin Johnson, Calen Thomas and Nic Johnson also scored, and T.J. Beaver had an assist as the Marauders spread the offense around many sources.
Goalies Joe Warhold and Mason Winter combined to make five saves for Hanover, which plays host to Nashua South on Monday.
