South Royalton — Freshman Paige Bellentine scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, a bases-loaded walk with the Royals’ Rachel Moore at the plate, to give the South Royalton softball team the late edge, 8-7, over Whitcomb-Rochester on Thursday.

Whitchester took a three-run lead into the fourth inning, but the Royals chipped away before tying the game at 7-7 in the sixth inning.

Moore had one strikeout, four walks and six hits in seven innings of work. South Royalton’s Summer Spaudling added two hits and two RBIs, Mara Southworth added three hits and two runs and Bailey Wing had two hits, two runs and one RBI.

The Royals (4-3) will travel to Williamstown on Tuesday.

Hartford 16, Windsor 1

Windsor — The Hurricanes broke through in the third inning with six unearned runs to keep Windsor winless this season.

Windsor (0-5) will play Leland & Gray on Monday.

Carah Rugg allowed nine earned runs, eight walks, three strikeouts and eight hits in the loss for Windsor. Emily Williams scored the Yellowjackets’ only run.

Hartford’s Brooke Hurd pitched four innings and earned four hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Amber Wilson had two hits, two runs and a double and Rachel Loseby added two hits and two runs.

Oxbow 10, Williamstown 0

Williamstown, Vt. — Mary Bourgeois earned eight strikeouts, one hit batter and no walks in Oxbow’s shutout victory, remaining perfect through four games.

Corrina Oakley had two hits, a home run and two RBIs. Kayleigh Trojanowski added four singles, Alex Geising had three hits and Bailee Wheeler added two hits and three RBIs.

Oxbow (4-0) will travel to Harwood on Tuesday.

Thetford 16, Harwood 8

Moretown, Vt. — Brooke Horniak earned nine strikeouts through seven innings to help the Panthers stay perfect.

Emily Emerson and Taylor Hollis each added three hits and three runs to the effort offensively. Harwood’s Becca Russell earned eight strikeouts in a complete game. Thetford scored nine runs in the first two innings to set the pace early.

The Panthers (3-0) will play Rivendell on Saturday.

Goffstown 12, Lebanon 0

Goffstown, n.h. — Maddy Tilton had two hits as Lebanon fell to 1-5.

Sydney Broughton, Abbey Brann, Morganne Young and Kristen Anderson each had one hit. Lauren Goodell pitched a complete game. Lebanon will host Con-Val on Monday.

Gilford 2, Newport 1 (8)

Gilford, n.h. — Newport scored its only run in the first inning and couldn’t break through further as Gilford tied the game in the fifth and won in the bottom of the eighth on a walk-off home run.

Stephanie Carl pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs and six strikeouts. Emma Carroll scored Newport’s only run. Carl finished with three hits.

Newport (2-1) will travel to Sunapee on Monday.

Burr & Burton 3, Woodstock 2

Manchester, Vt. — Maddie Moore earned four strikeouts and allowed six singles through a complete game as Woodstock fell back to .500.

Burr & Burton took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on what Woodstock head coach Jane Hoisington called “a few key, timely errors.” Gabbi Rozumek and Loretta Blakeney scored the Wasps’ two runs. Rozumek, Hannah Reali, Heather Blanchard and Kennedy Moore each had two hits.

Woodstock (2-2) will play Saturday at Twin Valley.

Baseball Oxbow 15, Williamstown 0

Williamstown, Vt. — The Olympians compiled 17 hits, led by Nick Daigle with four hits and a double in Oxbow’s third victory of the year.

Nick Grant added a home run, a single and two RBIs to the shutout victory. Eddie White started the game on the mound, earning nine strikeouts, two walks and four hits through five innings of work. Jake Stimson threw for one walk, two strikeouts and no hits in two innings of relief.

Oxbow (3-1) will travel to Randolph on Saturday.

John Stark 9, Hanover 4

Hanover — John Stark scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn the victory over the Marauders, who had tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Moises Celeya had two hits and two walks for Hanover. Nick Rassias, Marc Hampers and Braxton McNulty each had one RBI. Avery Monahan pitched 4 inning, earning two strikeouts, four hits, four runs and two walks. Kegan Silovich took the loss in relief.

Hanover (2-3) will play Oyster River on Saturday.

South Royalton 9, Whitcomb-Rochester 6

South Royalton — Nicholas Howe scored three times on three hits as the Royals remained perfect through their first six games.

Josh Scoskie pitched four innings, with seven strikeouts, eight walks and three hits. Justin Brock earned the win in relief for South Royalton. Matt Townsend allowed 12 hits in a complete game for Whitchester.

Stephen Page had two hits and an RBI for the Royals; Dominick Small added two hits and three RBIs. Small’s two-run single in the sixth inning made it 9-6.

South Royalton (6-0) will play Chelsea at home on Saturday.

Goffstown 10, Lebanon 4

Goffstown, n.h. — Nate Perkins pitched five innings, allowing 10 hits, two walks, two strikeouts and two hit batters in the Raiders’ sixth loss of the season.

Joah Moses pitched one inning and added two strikeouts in relief. Caleb Broughton had two hits, three RBIs and a home run to left field. Matt Sullivan added an RBI. Perkins helped himself with a hit and a run scored.

Lebanon (1-6) will host Con-Val on Monday.

Harwood 2, Thetford 1

Moretown, Vt. — Alden Nichols pitched a complete game in his first varsity start for the Panthers with five strikeouts, one walk, four hits and two earned runs in the loss.

Senior Jack Sweet had a hit and scored his team’s lone run in the top of the sixth inning. Harwood responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead.

“Alden exceeded my expectations today,” Thetford head coach Phil Chaput said. “(Harwood) is always a quality opponent.”

Thetford (0-4) will be looking for its first win against Rivendell on Saturday.

Burr & Burton 11, Windsor 1

Manchester, Vt. — Connor Gould scored the Wasps’ only run as Windsor falls below .500.

Nick Kapuscinski pitched 4, giving up 10 hits, eight runs and earning one strikeout. Gould scored on a Kapuscinski ground ball error in the first inning.

Windsor (2-3) will play Springfield on the road on Monday.

Gilford 4, Newport 2

Gilford, n.h. — Dawson Campbell pitched six innings, earning nine strikeouts in the Tigers’ loss in a make-up game.

“He did an outstanding job,” Newport head coach Jon Hamel said. “He was great.”

C.J. Lawrence and Tyler Maheu each scored for Newport. Campbell, a senior, added two hits. But the Tigers left eight runners on base, something Hamel said was the “deciding factor.” Newport (0-3) will travel to Sunapee on Monday.

Boys Lacrosse Middlebury 4, Woodstock 3

Middlebury, Vt. — Jackson Wood, Daniel Robinson and Patrick Potter each scored goals in Woodstock’s one-goal loss to Middlebury.

Jonas Kantola added an assist and Coleman McKaig made nine saves in the loss. Middlebury scored its game-winning goal with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Girls Lacrosse Burr & Burton 18, Hartford 2

Hartford — The Hurricanes fell behind 14-0 at halftime, but gave up only four goals in the second half.

Michaela Ricker and Morgan Pero scored both of Hartford’s goals. Victoria Stevenson and Jaden Sanborn split time in goal and made a combined eight saves. Hartford will play Brattleboro today in a make-up game.

Boys Tennis Burr & Burton 7, Woodstock 0

Manchester, Vt. — Peter Borden lost a tight match at No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-4 as BBA earned the sweep.

The Wasps fell to 2-2. Woodstock will take on Brattleboro today.

Lebanon 9, Con-Val 0

Peterborough, n.h. — The Raiders swept both singles and doubles Wednesday night to remain perfect through five matches this season.

Terran Campbell, Jacob Peress, Noah Didehbani, Owen Johnstone, Ben Ask and Noah Ryder won each of their singles matches, and doubles partners Campbell and Peress and Nick Haidari and Eric Spaulding won their doubles matches. Lebanon (5-0) will travel to Windham on Monday.

Girls Tennis Woodstock 5, Stowe 2

Woodstock — Sarah Fiendiesen took her match at No. 5 singles to three sets, winning 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 to help the Wasps stay perfect through their first four matches.

Momo Biele at No. 2 singles, Morgan Hartman at No. 3 singles, Katey MacMaster and Chloe Noble at No. 1 doubles and Emma King and Elise Geschardt at No. 2 doubles all added victories for Woodstock. The Wasps (4-0) will travel to Mt. Anthony today.
