Stoke, England — Harry Kane and Dele Alli both scored twice Monday as Tottenham crushed Stoke 4-0 with a devastating attacking display to close the gap on Premier League leader Leicester to five points.

Tottenham’s fearless performance was an emphatic response to Leicester dropping points in Sunday’s draw with West Ham with four games remaining.

Either team winning the league would shake up the established order. Leicester has never won the top flight in its 132-year history, and Tottenham’s only titles came in 1951 and 1961.

The England striker curled in the opener in the ninth minute at Stoke, but Tottenham only burst into life in the second half.

The 20-year-old Alli dinked the ball over 39-year-old goalkeeper Shay Given to double Tottenham’s lead in the 67th, but he then missed an open net for a potential goal that would have put the match away.

Kane did succeed in putting the ball into an unguarded net in the 71st, and Alli arrowed a powerful volley into the net to complete the heaviest loss of the season for ninth-place Stoke.

Leicester Star Facing Suspension

London — The English Football Association has charged Leicester striker Jamie Vardy with improper conduct over his reaction to being sent off in Sunday’s draw with West Ham.

Vardy was facing a one-match ban after receiving two yellow cards — the second for diving — but he now risks a longer suspension. The FA has also charged Leicester with failing to control its players after West Ham was awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute.

Leicester and Vardy, who scored before being sent off and is the Premier League’s joint top scorer, have until Thursday afternoon to respond to the charges.

MLS Atlanta Entry Building $60M Training Complex

Atlanta — Atlanta United FC says it will build a $60 million, privately funded training complex about 15 miles north of downtown in Marietta, Ga.

Construction of the training complex, which includes a 30,000-square foot building, six fields and a youth academy, starts next April.

Team President Darren Eales and Marietta Mayor Steve Humlin joined Blank on Monday to announce the project.

Blank, the Home Depot co-founder and owner of the Atlanta NFL franchise since 2002, said construction on the teams’ $1.4 billion downtown Mercedes-Benz Stadium is on schedule to open June 1, 2017.

United will play most of its road games the first few months of the season with the MLS schedule beginning in March.
