Pelham, n.h. Kath Merchant and Lauren Anikis led the way for the Lebanon High track and field team Saturday as the Raiders placed second to Milford at the Pelham Invitational.

Merchant, a sophomore, dominated throwing events, sweeping the shot put (37 feet, 10.5 inches), discus (114-01) and javelin (119-08). To boot, she placed fifth in the triple jump (29-09.25) to secure 20 points for Lebanon.

Anikis, a senior, won the high jump with a lunge of 5-04, while placing third in the triple jump (32-09) and fourth in the long jump (14-09.75).

Merchant’s twin sister, Kim, also scored in all three throwing events. She was runner up in the shot put (32-02.5), fourth in the discus (89-00) and fifth in the javelin (92-08).

Corinne Kennedy added to Lebanon’s successful day, winning the 300-meter hurdles in 45.43 seconds.

The Raiders 4×400 relay team was second in 54.16.

Lebanon’s boys placed tied for 10th, led by thrower Marcus Roper. The sophomore won the javelin with a heave of 141-09, was third in the shot put (39-06) and fourth in the discus (119-08).

OrfordThe Red Devils had 11 hits and took advantage of some Raptor miscues in rallying for a high-scoring win. Rivendell led 5-0 after three innings and 9-7 in the fourth.

Dashiel Fukushima had a two-run triple and allowed three earned runs as the starting pitcher. Dametres Perry went 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Raptors.

Kearsarge 10, Mascoma 3

Enfield The Royals fell to 0-3 despite cranking out 11 hits.

“We hit the ball hard all day, but they happened to be sent at Kearsarge (defenders) all day,” Mascoma coach Guy Servis said. “You also have to give Kearsarge credit because they pounded the ball, too.”

Oscar Brueckner (six innings, two walks) allowed all 10 runs for the Royals.

Wyatt Wheeler (2-for-2, run), Mark Olsen (2-for-3, RBI) and Tyler Findley (RBI) stood out at the plate for Mascoma.

Softball Thetford 15, S. Royalton 12

South Royalton — The Panthers prevailed in their season opener while the Royals fell to 0-3.

Maddie Kingsbury (two singles, double, two RBIs), Emily Emerson (double) and Brooke Horniak (two walks, run) helped propel Thetford offensively, while Taylor Hollis (3 innings) and Horniak pitched for the Panthers.

Maegan Cardino (two hits, three runs, double) and Anna Meeks (four RBIs, run) stood out at the plate for the Royals.

Randolph 15, U32 14 (9)

Randolph MacKenzie Rumrill forced extra innings with a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh, then scored the winning run on an overthrow in the ninth as the Galloping Ghosts (1-1) rallied.

Emily Grady had four hits and Emily Cass contributed three for the Ghosts.

Randolph pitcher Mikayla Norton (six innings, nine hits, three strikeouts, one walk) got the win.

Kearsarge 11, Mascoma 7

Enfield The Royals fell to 0-3 in a high-scoring game at Shaker Field.

Rayleigh Mansur went 3-for-4 at the plate while striking out nine with eight walks from the pitcher’s circle.

Katie Ferland (two RBIs) and Abby Duhaime both went 2-for-4 for Mascoma.

Boys Lacrosse Yarmouth (Maine) 9, Hanover 6

Yarmouth, Maine — The Marauders (1-2) fell to the Clippers on the road.

“Our defense played extremely well, but we spent too much time in the penalty box and made too many turnovers,” said Hanover coach Ryan Gardner, whose team trailed 5-1 at halftime.

“That made it difficult to come back from the deficit.”

George Geraghty led the Marauders with three goals, two assists. Jake Acker (two goals), Reed Winter (goal, assist) and Graham Penfield (assist) also contributed offensively for Hanover, while goalie Zander Lingelbach-Pierce made 12 saves.

KUA 11, Cushing 6

Meriden — KUA topped Cushing Academy at home behind a strong defensive effort led by Vasili Katsarakes.

Offensively, the Wildcats showed a balanced attack with six players scoring: Will Harrigan (two), Mike Lombardi (two), Dylan van Leuwen-Hall (two), Alex Regnery and Bryce Dolan.

Girls LacrosseBrewster 14, KUA 8

Meriden — KUA’s Maisie O’Shea had three goals and an assist in the Wildcats’ loss to Brewster.

Aurora Braswell, Julia Denny, Greta Close, Maddy Gesner and Mia Brown also scored.

Senior captain Kate Fowler and freshman Seana Perkins earned 3 saves in goal.

Boys RugbyWilbraham Monson 27, KUA 10

Meriden — Kimball Union dropped its season opener to Wilbraham Monson Academy.

KUA mounted a number of offensive drives, which culminated with Will Robbins Cole’s 3-point penalty conversion.

Arthur Hwang later added KUA’s first try of the season. Will Robbins-Cole put through the conversion to bring the score to 27-10.

Girls Tennis KUA 5, Phillips Exeter 4

Meriden The Wildcats (3-0) prevailed after entering doubles play deadlocked 3-3. Christina Ryan, Sam Vocatura and Charlotte Greenspan won at both singles and doubles for Kimball Union.

Ryan (No. 1 singles) and Greenspan (No. 5) teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Vocatura (No. 3) joined with Meriden’s Erin Gregory-Davis for an 8-2 doubles win.
