Prescott, Ariz. —
He was predeceased by parents, John Mayo and Laura Guernsey, and his wife, Judy Marie Rogers. Survivors include his sister, Deborah Mayo of Vermont; his niece, Toni Swift Hawk and nephew, Alvin Swift Hawk, both of Arizona; nephews, Ian Hall and Jeremiah Knaeble, both of Minnesota; niece, Emily Knaeble of Vermont, and niece, Katie Knaeble of Massachusetts; his dear friend, LeRoy Tope; his dog Spike; and many friends of Church of Christ in Prescott Valley, Ariz. David was a humble and generous man who will be greatly missed by other extended family members and friends across the country. Special thanks to LeRoy and the VA Hospice for the wonderful care provided to David.
David graduated from Hanover High School in Hew Hampshire and he also attended Bemidji State College in Minnesota. He served the U.S. Army in Korea and received an honorable discharge.
David grew up with a love of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and he took many camping trips in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. He worked many jobs: a firefighter for the forest service, he installed fiber optic telephone lines all over the U.S. and gas pipelines in Texas. As an adventurer, David traveled throughout the U.S. He arrived in Prescott Valley in a Volkswagen van where he met his wife Judy.
A memorial service was held at the Prescott Church of Christ on April 2, 2016. David will be interred at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery next to his father with full military honors at a later date. Donations can be made to the VA hospice in care of NAVAHCS, 500 Hwy 89 North, Prescott, AZ 86301.
