Windsor, Vt. — Richard Schur, 83, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016 in Windsor, Vt.

He was born in Bristol, Conn. on March 19, 1933, the son of the late Gustav and Helen (Panke) Schur. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judith (Bachand) Schur, his daughter Laura (Schur) Walsh and husband Kevin of Avon, Conn., his step-daughters Margaret (Fischer) Byrne and Doreen (Fischer) O’Leary both of Unionville, Conn. 23 grandchild and great grandchild all of whom he loved dearly, also survive him.. He was pre-decreased by his step-son; Mark Fischer, his brother George Schur and sister Gertrude Albritton.

He lived his early life in Bristol, Conn. where he attended Bristol Central School. Richard enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 and served on board the USS Salamonie. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #29 in Collinsville, Conn. and Grand Lodge of NH. He raised his family in Farmington, Conn., and retired to East Lempster, N.H., following 25 years of service with GEM Sensors.

Richard was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan and loved to sip scotch on his deck and look out onto his beloved Long Pond. He will be remember for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. The family would like to give special thanks to Cedar Hill Continuing Care and Bayada for care above and beyond what the family could ever ask for.

There will be a private memorial at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Hill activities program, 49 Cedar Hill Drive, Windsor, VT 05089.
