Hartland, Vt. —
She graduated from East Aurora High School and attended Plattsburgh State College. It is here she met her husband Robert Keeney Day. They married June 18, 1949, in East Aurora, N.Y. When first married they lived in Bridgeport, Conn., moving briefly to Mount Vernon, N.Y., then to Pelham, N.Y. where they raised their family before retiring to Hartland. They were fortunate to have made lifelong friends.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband in 2010. Three sisters predeceased Nancy. Jean Phillips, Ann Wilde and Marion Taylor. She is survived by her brother David C and his wife Joanne Hofmann of Huntington, Long Island.
She is survived by her four children, Robert Carl Day (Debra) of Hartland, Barbara Day Holmes (Gordon) of Hartland, Carol Day Brockunier (Alfred) of Piseco, N.Y. and David B. Day of Hartland; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Brian, Melissa, Christopher, Robert Tyler, Connor, Devon and Bayley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by her friends as a great tennis player with a fierce back hand! She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, and loved to entertain. Having married a caterer she loved to spend time in the kitchen preparing fabulous meals.
As Nancy’s health declined over the past several years, she enjoyed countless visits from her grandchildren. They brought many smiles to her face and she looked forward to their visits. She was so proud of each one of them and their accomplishments.
A memorial service will be held at the First Universalist Society of Hartland on April 23 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at her home. Burial will be May 26, 2016, at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Randolph, Vt. at 1 p.m.
