First Friday in White River Junction calls:
Printmaker, sculptor and blacksmith Lynn Newcomb, who lives in Worcester, Vt., will exhibit her prints at Two Rivers Printmaking Studio; her prints are in the collection of, among others, the Fogg Museum at Harvard, the New York Public Library and the Danforth Museum in Framingham, Mass. There will be a reception at the studio Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The show runs through April 30. Newcomb also has work up at White River Gallery in South Royalton.
Over at Scavenger Gallery on South Main Street, owner Stacy Hopkins holds a First Friday wine tasting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Works by Hopkins, Toby Bartles, Lois Beatty and Ria Blaas are on view
Barbara Newton, a collagist, will show her work at the Converse Free Library in Lyme, beginning Friday. There will be an opening on Wednesday, April 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through June 30.
Beginning Friday, the Norman Williams Library in Woodstock will be exhibiting works by artists who also use the resources of Zack’s Place in Woodstock, a community center that offers arts, music, dance and fitness to area residents who are on the autism spectrum, were born with Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy or Asperger’s syndrome, among other disorders. There will be an opening reception for “Vermont Is On Our Minds” on Saturday at noon. The show runs through May 14.
Call for Artists
The Chandler Gallery is asking artists to submit one example of recent work for its annual Area Artists Show, which will run April 30 through June 11. They’re seeking artists from Orange, Washington and Windsor counties. Works will be accepted at the gallery on Sunday, April 24 from 4 to 6 p.m.; and Monday, April 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There is a $10 entrance fee to submit work. Lois Beatty, one of the member artists of Two Rivers Print Studio, is holding a workshop on the monoprint this Saturday, from 12 to 3 p.m. As its name suggests, the monoprint is one-of-a-kind: no limited editions, or series. And the demonstration is free!
AVA Gallery and Art Center in Lebanon holds its Silent Auction Party this Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is $25 for members; $35 for non-members; or $50 at the door.
