Claremont, N.H. — Violette Theresa (Ferland) Theroux passed away at the age of 91 on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, surrounded by family and prayers. Born in Pawtucket, R.I. on January 13, 1925 to Ovila and Rosalba (Lemieux) Ferland, she moved to Claremont at the age of twelve and called Claremont home until her death. Beloved by all who knew her, Violette was known for her unwavering devotion to the Catholic faith, her faithful devotion to her immediate and extended family and to her many, many friends. She was also recognized for her joyous spirit, positive attitude and her love of life.

Married to Germain “Jim” Theroux in 1946, she remained at home when her two sons were young and returned to work to be employed at M.H. Fishman Company, Edna Shoe on Plains Road, International Shoe on Mulberry Street, and then retired from Hampshire Manufacturing as a stitcher in 1978 where she had worked for three years. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, crafting, and spending time with her family. Skilled in knitting and crocheting, she also contributed many hours to researching Ferland family ancestry as she took great pride in her French Canadian heritage. She also gave her time as a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, Claremont Congress Senior Citizens, St. Joseph cenacle, and she was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.

In her passing she is survived by her son, Roger Theroux and his wife, Maura MacNeil of Deering and son, Roland Theroux of Claremont. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Devon Pearse-Theroux of Bennington, Raejean Pearse-Theroux and her partner Greg Sparrow of Wakefield, R.I., Dylan Pearse-Theroux of Deering, and Teresa (Theroux) Anderson and her husband Dana Anderson of Charlestown. She was the great-grandmother to Tara Yurek and Kayla Stevens of Claremont and great-great grandmother to Ryleigh and Ebin Robbins of Claremont. She also leaves behind sisters Helen Adamovich and Stella Wilson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim who passed away in 1993 and also by six brothers and five sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Friday April 1 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Claremont with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery followed by a gathering of family and friends.
