Jones and other biologists are stationed throughout the state on the busiest days of hunting season collecting biological data and blood samples, which will be tested for Jamestown Canyon virus and COVID-19. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has found COVID-19 antibodies in deer populations in other regions of the country, but so far there is no evidence that deer are spreading the virus back to humans.
