GRAFTON, NH — Mary Della Johnston, age 63, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a short battle with Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer. Della was born August 21, 1955 in New Kensington, PA to Helen (Duray) and Nestro “Nick” Petroff and raised in Russelton, PA. She attended Deer Lakes High School. Della and Jeffrey Johnston were married in Richmond, VA on May 14, 1982.
Della cultivated many friendships as a Postmaster in Grafton, NH over the years. When she wasn’t working one of her favorite pastimes was going to the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos.
Della is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Johnston of Grafton, NH; sister, Louise Drum of Tarntum, PA; mother-in-law, Lou Ann Burford of New Kensington, PA; nieces, Rachel Drum and Samantha Gatti; and nephews, Josh Drum, Jeremy Drum, and Brandon Murray, all of Pennsylvannia.
Della was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert “Bob” Petroff of Myrtle Beach, SC and Nick Petroff, Jr. of Russelton, PA.
Services are pending and will be announced at a later date. Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon, NH is assisting her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Della’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
