Anyone who has driven on roads in the Upper Valley since the snow has melted has probably noticed the build up of litter on the roadsides.
Communities — like they do every spring — are organizing days to clean up the mess, with many taking place the first weekend of May.

Join the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce and help spruce up the neighborhood. Wear work clothes and bring tools, if available. A cookout takes place at noon following the cleanup. Free. 802-885-2779.

Community cleanup day in Lebanon

Gloves and highly visible clothing are recommended, but no special equipment is needed. Trash bags provided. Families, community organizations and neighborhood groups are all welcome. Pick up bags now at Hartford Town Hall or the Quechee Library. Can clean up roads on own or as part of Conservation Commission group at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
