Dick Mackay, Maria Dailey, Ron Behrns, Gerald Labie and Robert Stasey have joined the nonprofit counseling service that caters to small business owners, startups and entrepreneurs.
Mackay, of Hanover, is the franchisee of the Comfort Inn and Super 8 in White River Junction. An investor in Railroad Row LLC, he is the author of Adventures in Paradise, the bicycling guide to the Upper Valley, and also serves as chairman of the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail in Grafton County.
Dailey, of White River Junction, is the owner of Aquilino Arts and has spent more than 20 years in marketing, advertising and graphic design.
Behrns, of Woodstock, owned and operated Dunham Hill Bakery Cafe for more than a decade and has held positions in business development, strategic planning, finance and accounting, most notably with Verizon.
Labie, of Eastman, has served as a executive in the information technology market and held positions with computer manufacturers, software developers and in the distribution channel.
Stasey, also of Eastman, was a strategy director in the high-technology market, held senior positions in manufacturing, marketing positions in retail and online sales and was a partner in consulting.
In addition, the chapter recently acknowledged long-standing volunteers, Audrey Sears (20 years), Susan Davidson (10 years) and Ed Childs (five years) for their service.
Springfield Printing Corp., of North Springfield, Vt, has been awarded three recognition awards from Printing Industries of New England, a regional trade association composed of printers, mailers, packaging firms, graphic designers, direct mail firms, label printers, finishers, binderies and vocational schools. Springfield Printing Corp. was recognized for its Square Spot Design/Tilton School Brand Book, which the company described as “a book bound within a book.” It also was honored for its work on the Vermont Academy Embossed Presentation Folder, which received the Pinnacle Award in its category, and for the art book Machine Age Modernism: Prints From the Daniel Cowan Collection, a collection of prints from the first collection in the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass. The book earned an award for merit.
Ibex Outdoor Clothing LLC, of White River Junction, has received $350,000 in working capital from the Vermont Economic Development Authority to help the company better integrate improvements in its manufacturing and supply chain with seasonal production cycles. Ibex designs, markets, sells and distributes outdoor clothing made primarily from New Zealand merino wool. The company employs 57, a number expected to grow to 71 within three years of the project, the authority said in a news release.
Lake Sunapee Bank issued its annual employee service awards earlier this month at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord. Approximately 280 bank employees attended the evening celebration, at which their co-workers were recognized for their years of service as well as the completion of leadership programs and other achievements. Francetta “Franc” Raymond, vice president, mortgage loan operations manager of the Newport office, received the 35-Year Service Award. Raymond began her career at the bank in 1981 as a real estate loan clerk, and has held many positions at the bank, all within the mortgage lending area. The bank’s 30-year employees included: Nancy Barthol, assistant vice president, ebanking services manager; Susan Fernald, vice president, deposit operations manager; Pellegrino “Greeno” Rossi, assistant vice president, facilities manager; Roxanne Shedd, vice president, area business leader, branch manager II; and Terri Spanos, vice president, branch manager II. The bank’s 20-year employees include: Sheila Loring, special assets servicer; Elise Dufresne, loan servicing specialist; and Tamara Heiser, branch manager I.
M.J. Harrington & Co. Jewelers of Newport earned the “Above & Beyond Business Award” at the Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice’s 17th annual “Women Who Make a Difference” luncheon held earlier this month at Colby-Sawyer College. The event honored local women and organizations for community service and raised money for the agency’s Pediatric Program.
The Newport Chamber of Commerce’s seventh annual Chamber Day is scheduled for June 18, starting at 9 a.m. on the Newport Town Common. More than 40 vendors, local businesses, town departments, nonprofits and more are expected to participate. The event will include the third annual Newport Brewfest, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., which organizers said has evolved into a “Nano Brewfest” that will feature products from more than 30 brewery operations that produce fewer than 2,000 barrels of beer a year. Also new this year is a barbecue competition featuring cash prizes. Other activities include a raffle, events for kids and music. Tickets for some events are limited and can be purchased online.
