Hanover — Whether in person or via the internet, Upper Valley hockey fans will be able to participate when Dartmouth College graduate Ben Lovejoy brings the Stanley Cup to Thompson Arena on Monday.

As part of his designated day with the NHL’s championship trophy, Lovejoy will host a free event for the public at the Big Green’s rink. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with Lovejoy arriving with the trophy at 6 p.m.

Lovejoy, a member of last season’s Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins, will pose for pictures and sign autographs for all in attendance. Free autographed posters will go to the first 2,000 fans, and a raffle for other prizes will be part of the day. Members of the current Dartmouth squad will also be on hand to talk about the coming season and sign autographs.

Fans unable to attend the Thompson event on Monday can still view it on a free live stream on the Ivy League Digital Network beginning at 5:45 p.m.

A 2006 Dartmouth graduate, Lovejoy is an offseason Enfield resident and the first New Hampshire-born hockey player to play on a Stanley Cup winning roster. He recently signed a free agent contract to join the New Jersey Devils for the coming NHL campaign.
