Michael Laws, 32, will serve two to four years in prison on charges of robbery, disobeying an officer and receiving stolen property, which he pleaded guilty to on Tuesday, Grafton County Attorney Lara Saffo said.
Laws told police he tried to rob the dollar store in early August to get money to stay in the Upper Valley, a place he relocated to from Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Laws left the store and led police on a chase through Enfield and into Lebanon in a stolen car before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot, police said.
He also received a concurrent six-month sentence on the disobeying an officer charge and a suspended 3½- to seven-year sentence on the receiving stolen property charge. The state dismissed all other charges he faced.
