Kensington, n.h. — The Lebanon Cal Ripken U10 all-star baseball team opened the New Hampshire state tournament with two wins and one loss and was among four teams still alive in the tourney as Wednesday night’s games got under way at Sawyer Park.

Lebanon opened up play on Saturday by getting a come-from-behind 8-6 win over Berlin-Gorham. Lebanon jumped to a 2-0 lead, fell behind 6-2 through four frames and rallied with two runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth for the victory. Dominic Petkus led the attack with three hits and four RBIs, while Cayden Van Dolah and Sam Bates combined for five hits and six runs. Domineaque Taylor earned the win in relief, throwing two scorleess innings with three strikeouts and one hit allowed.

Dover limited Lebanon to four hits on Sunday in a 16-2 defeat. Petkus, Zach Gaudet (two RBIs), Zach Thompson and Zachary Aldrich had the hits for Lebanon.

Facing elimination from the tourney, Lebanon bounced back on Tuesday for a 9-0 shutout of Suncook Valley.

A six-run fourth essentially clinched the game for Lebanon, which got a combined two-hitter from Dawon Bates, Bennett Hewett and Gaudet. Bates needed just 30 pitches for his three-inning portion of work, fanning four without a walk.

Petkus and Ben Achmoody both had two hits. Aldrich, Hewett and Sam Bates also had hits for Lebanon, which was scheduled to host Exeter on Wednesday night.
