ROYALTON — The proposed general fund of $1.36 million is up about 7% from the budget voters approved last year, but due to applying a surplus from last year the amount to be raised by taxes for the general fund is decreasing by $30,504 or almost 3%.

The proposed highway fund of $1.04 million is down less than 0.1% from last year, but would require an additional $29,687 or 3.7%, to be raised by taxes.

Together, the general fund and highway fund are increasing by 1.05% from the spending voters approved in 2019.

Other articles ask voters to approve spending $351,919 for Royalton organizations and $24,924 for social service agencies.

Also up for a vote is whether resident should begin voting on all public questions by Australian ballot instead of from the floor.

Voters will elect three Selectboard members by Australian ballot. Selectboard Chairwoman Sandy Conrad is being challenged by John P. Dumville for a two-year seat. David Barker is running uncontested for a three-year seat being vacated by Selectboard member Tim Dreisbach. Jerry Barcelow is running uncontested for a two-year seat he was appointed to.

Royalton’s Town Meeting will be held at the White River Valley School auditorium in South Royalton at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3.
