Meadow Vista, Calif. —
Tom was born in Norwich, Vt., to Jessie and Gilman Kendall in 1930, the youngest of four children. He graduated Hanover High School in 1948. He was a three sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. His great love was baseball. On a neighborhood ball game in the town square, Tom hit a baseball from the Town Center, across Main St and hit the Post Office. People still talk about that shot 68 years later!
After earning a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Vermont, Tom was drafted into the army from August 1952 until July 1954, serving as a Tank Trap Engineer in Germany and Austria. After an Honorable Discharge, he married the love of his life, Sylvia June Heath in August 1954. He moved his new bride to Marysville, Calif., in 1955, just in time for the great flood. In 1960, he moved his growing family to Meadow Vista, and has lived there ever since.
Tom was a Licensed Land Surveyor, working on many projects in Northern California, from Incline Village to Lake County. He surveyed properties in Colfax and Meadow Vista until his retirement in 2005.
He is preceded in death by his wife, June; his brother, Gil Kendall; and his sister, Janet Pierce.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Harris; son, Mark Kendall; and daughters, Karen Morgen and Kim Berryhill. He has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Tom will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at the Placer Hills Community Church in Meadow Vista.
