CANAAN, NH — Roland “Chappy” Kilgore, 77, of Canaan, NH passed away peacefully at Genesis Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Lebanon, NH. He was born June 6, 1942 in Wentworth, NH to Eleanor L. (Downes) and Roland H. Kilgore. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and loved his country.

Chappy was the Concession Manager for Sandwich Fair for many, many years. He also owned Chappy’s Concessions. He loved all pulling. You could always find one of his food trailers by the pulling rings. He always said, “First one open, last one to close.” He loved helping people. If another concessionaire was out of something someone would say, “Go ask Chappy.” He told me, “Promise to me you will always have my trailers near the horse pulling ring.” I told him, “Yes, I would.” Rest in Peace, Chappy. We all love you.

Chappy is survived by his wife, Suzan Ignacio of Canaan; sister, Mary Kay McBride of Mount Airy, MD; nephew, Brian Contrell of Concord, NH; stepdaughter, Mary Ignacio, and her partner, Micheal Evans, of Grafton, NH; stepson, John, and wife, Marissa Ignacio of Enfield; grandchildren, Chloe, Johnny, Cole, and Irissa Ignacio, and Wyatt and Aubrey Evans of Canaan; and Debbie Mackillop (his “girlfriend”) of Stark, NH and the whole Mackillop pulling family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion Contrell; and brother-in-law, Donald McBride.
