NASHUA, NH — Robert George Fish, 95, passed away peacefully at home Saturday morning, April 25, 2020. He was born April 7, 1925 in Randolph, VT to Alice (Martin) and Charles Fish, one of their 7 children.

Robert was very patriotic and proud of the United States. He fought for his country as a Private First Class in the US Army’s 128th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion, serving in Europe from 1943 to 1946 under General Patton. He was a life-long member of the American Legion.

Robert worked for the City of Lebanon in the Highway Department and was a Truck Driver with Eaton Oil for many years. He was a big union man and proud of it.

Robert was a devoted husband and father. He married Beatrice Claudia Sunn February 7, 1948. The couple had six children of their own and fostered many more. There was a minimum of 9 kids around the dinner table and sometimes 13. Theirs was the house everyone came to and family always gathered on Sunday. He was both a gentleman and a consummate flirt. According to his family, “He could talk to a wall!” He enjoyed camping with his family in the White Mountains and at Lake Champagne in Randolph, VT and watching western movies, especially with John Wayne. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lebanon before moving to Nashua in the 1990’s.

Robert is survived by his children, Stephen Wayne Fish of Nashua, NH, Judith Anne Wun of Hopkinsville, KY, Anthony Charles Fish of Nashua, NH, and Margaret “Peggy” Rose Robinson of Cadiz, KY; and lots of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Fish and Alice Mosley; wife, Beatrice Fish; son, Robert “Bobby” G. Fish, Jr. in 1972; and daughter, Cheryl L. Horne of Nashua, NH passed April 22, 2020.

Memorial donations in Robert’s name may be made to the Lebanon United Methodist Church, 18 School Street, Lebanon, NH 03766.
