Lebanon, N.H. —
Daughter of the late Gilbert and Bessie Shovan, she was born April 6, 1929 in Orange, Mass. Virginia married Clement I. Verge on Jan. 1, 1948. Clement predeceased her on Feb. 18, 1992.
Mrs. Verge was a graduate of Enfield High School. She worked as a school secretary for 20 years at the Plainfield School in Meriden, a position she thoroughly enjoyed.
She was a communicant of the Holy Redeemer Parish in West Lebanon and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She worked as a volunteer for hospice of the Upper Valley, Holy Redeemer Ladies Group, American Association of Retired Persons and RSVP Lebanon Senior Center.
She enjoyed sewing, landscape painting, writing and ceramics. Family and friends were the most important part of her life.
Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth R. Verge and his wife Valerie, of Hudson, N.H. and Ronald D. Verge and his wife Susan, of Newburgh, N.Y.; a sister June Fuller and her husband Henry, of Denton, Texas; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and former daughter in law Jeanette Hutchins. She was predeceased by a son, Keith L. Verge, in 1987.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday July 7, 2016 at the Ricker Funeral Home 56 School Street, Lebanon, NH 03766. A Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on July 8, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon, N.H.
