South Strafford, Vt. — Everett K. Linton, Sr., 84, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Hanover Terrace Health and Rehab Center in Hanover, N.H. He was born April 23, 1932 in South Strafford, the son of James and Mildred (Wood) Linton. He attended school in Strafford. From 1953 to 1954 he served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

He worked at the Strafford Copper Mines until they closed, the chicken plant in South Royalton, he drove truck for S.T. Griswold and Lafayette Construction Company where he worked on the Union Village Dam and the interstate. He also worked for L.H. Cook in Norwich until he retired then worked part time for Dick Josler of South Strafford.

He was a member of the Strafford Vol. Fire Dept., and the V.F.W. Post #2571 and American Legion Post #26 both of White River Jct., Vt. He enjoyed Hunting and Snowmobiling.

He is survived by his companion of 42 years, Polly Fifield of Vershire, Vt.; two sons, Everett Kenneth Linton, Jr. of Arizona and Kelly E. Linton of Woodstock, Vt.; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jeffrey; a great grandson, Jax; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Cook and a half-brother, Clarence Carter.

There are no public calling hours. A private graveside service with full military honors will be held later this Spring in the Strafford Cemetery, Strafford, Vt.
