Norwich — South Woodstock native Randy Richardson has been hired as the Upper Valley Trails Alliance development director.

Richardson earned his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College and master’s degree from Wesleyan University, according to a news release from the nonprofit organization. He was previously the headmaster at the Oliverian School in Pike and also led Manchester’s Derryfield School. He was a consultant at Breakthrough Collaborative and has spent his career in education, including as a teacher, coach and administrator.

Upper Valley residents Brenda Petrella and Lucy Gibson were added to the Alliance’s board of directors.

Petrella has lived in the area since 1999 while persuing a doctorate in molecular and cellular biology at Dartmouth College. She did a fellowship at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center and opened a molecular kidney cancer research lab at the VA in White River Junction, according to the release. She is the biosafety officer and lab substainability manager at Dartmouth.

Gibson, who lives in Sharon, has lived in the Upper Valley for more than 30 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in engineering sciences from Dartmouth College, according to the release.

Gibson is working on transportation plans for more than a dozen Vermont communities and elsewhere.
