How many ways can a guitarist pick the strings? Let Upper Valley pros Bill Ghezzi, Peter Neri, Spencer Lewis and Ed Eastridge count four of them on Friday night.
Taking turns on the stage of the Seven Stars Arts Center in Sharon, Ghezzi will solo with his classical repertoire, while Neri will range among alt-rock, folk and Americana.
The audience also can expect Bethel resident Lewis to live-loop some of his folksy reflections, and Thetford’s Eastridge will stir up a salsa of Latin rhythms.
The format “sounds like fun to me,” Ghezzi, who lives in West Lebanon, said on Tuesday. “Peter interviewed me last year on his program ‘One Guitar’ on Royalton Community Radio. This concert is a bit like Peter’s show: four guitarists, four styles.”
In addition to interviewing Eastridge and Ghezzi on air, “I’ve been friends with Spencer for quite a few years,” said Neri, who lives in Sharon. “Spencer also produced two of my three CDs.”
Eastridge, meanwhile, recently joined forces with Ghezzi, soprano Laurie Janney and mandolinist Adam Buchwald to record The House with Four Chimneys, an exploration of the music of 19th- and early 20th-century French classical composer Erik Satie.
“Ed and he and I played some duets on that recording and then he presented a recital of Satie’s music at the AVA Gallery,” Ghezzi said. “Ed really loves Satie.”
Eastridge also would love to close Friday’s concert by playing at least one number with all three colleagues.
“It would be nice to do a jazz standard, maybe,” Eastridge said. “Something where everybody gets to take a chorus.”
Guitarists Ed Eastridge, William Ghezzi, Spencer Lewis and Peter Neri perform on Friday night at 7 at the Seven Stars Art Center in Sharon. Admission $15.
