Voters in New Hampshire House District Grafton 5 will fill two seats on Tuesday, Nov. 3; three candidates are running.
Republicans Marie Louise Bjelobrk, an incumbent, and Greg Mathieson, both of North Haverhill, face Democrat Dustin Vigneault of Haverhill.
The Valley News sent a survey to the candidates about their experience, why they are running and what they see as the biggest issue facing the state.
Vigneault’s answers, edited lightly for style, appear below. Vigneault, an Army veteran and Haverhill School Board member, names affordability and property taxes as the biggest issues. He says the state should fully fund public education without a sales or income tax.
Bjelobrk and Mathieson did not return the questionnaire.
DUSTIN VIGNEAULT

Democrat · NH House Grafton 5
46, Democrat, Haverhill
Political experience: Ran for state representative in 2024; current chair of the Northern Grafton County Democrats.
Professional experience: Army veteran, nine years; aircraft technician, six years; IT technician, 10 years.
Community service: Woodsville Civil Air Patrol squadron commander; Haverhill School Board member.
Why are you running? To protect my daughter’s education and lower our property taxes.
Biggest issue: Affordability. The property tax situation is out of control in our state, and we can fix it without instituting a sales or income tax. It is the Legislature’s responsibility to reconfigure the statewide education property tax to fully fund our public education system as required by our state constitution.
