Support for changing West Lebanon voting location

Having deep roots in West Lebanon, I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years, but never as many as there have been lately. Although I welcome these improvements, I want to bring your attention to the hazardous traffic situation adjacent to Seminary Hill School (now the SAU 88 Administrative Office), caused by the South Main Street/Route 12A Bridge replacement “Dry Bridge” project.

With the Dry Bridge closed to all vehicular traffic until September 2027, a detour has been established, passing directly in front of Seminary Hill School. While this situation may work on a typical day, upcoming elections could be impacted as voters attempt to navigate access to Seminary Hill School, which is the Ward 1 voting precinct. I am also aware of the difficulty some folks have with the stairs from the Aldrich Avenue parking lot down to the school building.

In an effort to find a solution to these two problems, I contacted Wellspring Worship Center, located at 407 N. Main St., West Lebanon, to inquire if they would be amenable to using their space as a voting precinct. They have an amazingly large, flat parking lot, which would benefit voters of all ages and abilities. After receiving a positive response from the Worship Center, I contacted Lebanon City Clerk Jaseya Ewing to inform her of this possibility, hoping the change could be arranged in time for voters to be notified.

As Ms. Ewing considers my proposal, I would like other West Lebanon voters to support changing the Ward 1 voting precinct location so that all voters are encouraged to participate in the November 3rd election.
