WEST LEBANON – The Interstate 89 Exit 20 southbound off-ramp will be closed Monday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to facilitate granite curb installation, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced.

Once the curb installation is complete, the ramp will reopen. Officials expect the ramp to be closed for one day.

Traffic will be detoured south on Interstate 89 to Exit 19 to reverse directions onto Interstate 89 northbound, where drivers can use the Exit 20 northbound off-ramp.

NHDOT encourages drivers to remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs.

“The contractor is currently working on finishing median barrier installation as well as other job specific tasks that need to be completed prior to the placement of the final wearing course of pavement,” Andrew Silovich, a contract administrator with NHDOT, told the Valley News in an email on Friday.

Those activities, Silovich said, are expected to be completed by middle to late October.

Both paving and line striping are weather dependent, he added, so dates are subject to change.

“Once we know the dates of final paving there will be a press release as well as messages on the message boards on both I-89 and I-91 to notify the public of possible delays,” he said.

This latest roadwork announcement is part of a multiyear bridge replacement project.

R.S. Audley of Bow, New Hampshire, is the prime contractor on the $43 million project, which began in 2020 and is slated for completion this fall. Environmental factors pushed back the original completion date, which had been set for September 2025.

“We currently anticipate that the project will be wrapping up around the end of November,” Silovich said.
