LEBANON — Dartmouth Health has hired a new chief operating officer.
Dr. Jonathan Welch will join Dartmouth Health later this summer, according to a Tuesday news release from the Lebanon-based healthcare system. He will replace Patrick F. Jordan III, who retired in June after serving in the role since November 2017.
Welch previously served as chief population health officer and chief innovation officer for the Geisinger Health System in Danville, Penn., according to the release. In that role, Welch oversaw primary care, behavioral health and urgent care services.
“Dr. Welch’s experience in academic and rural health settings positions him well to contribute to Dartmouth Health’s mission to enhance operational priorities and enable support to meet clinical priorities,” Dartmouth Health CEO and president Dr. Joanne M. Conroy said in the release.
Welch earned a medical degree from Harvard Medical School and then completed an emergency medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Welch holds a bachelor’s degree in bioethics and population health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in health policy from the London School of Economics.
“Throughout his career, Welch has led large multidisciplinary teams and managed extensive operational portfolios,” according to the release. “His work has focused on improving access to care, advancing value-based care models and implementing systemwide initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes and support care teams.”
