RANDOLPH โ€” The McDonald’s on Route 66 will be closed until further notice after a portion of the building caught fire Monday morning when flames from a malfunctioning vehicle in the drive-through lane spread to the restaurant.

The operator was able to escape before the vehicle became fully engulfed at about 10 a.m., according to a news release from Vermont State Police.

Customers and employees also were able to evacuate the restaurant safely. There were no reported injuries.

“Numerous fire departments responded and quickly extinguished the fire,” the release said.
