Edgewater , FL – Florida – Muriel (Midge) Turner Romano, 97, of Edgewater, Florida, passed away surrounded by family on January 28, 2026. Midge was born on October 7, 1928, in Berlin, New Hampshire to Odian and Alice (Linnell) Turner. Midge grew up in Wentworth’s Location, NH, north of Berlin, until she left at the age of 17 for nursing school.
After graduating Berlin High School in 1946, she attended Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hanover, New Hampshire. After graduating in 1949 as an RN, Midge enjoyed a long nursing career spanning 47 years working at Pratt Hospital in Boston, VA Hospital in White River Jct. Vermont, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center) in Hanover, NH, and retiring at Humana Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1996.
She married Carroll (Mino) Romano on September 23, 1950, and settled in West Lebanon, NH. Before moving to Edgewater, Florida in 1984 to enjoy the warm Florida sunshine.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll in 1991, Her brothers, Richard, Arlen and Wendell and her sister Beverly Jennings.
She is survived by sons, Jim (Margie) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Jay (Sandy) of Enfield, NH, and Jeff (Wendy) of Lafayette, Louisiana; granddaughters Jamie and Hanna; grandsons Mario, Marco, Timothy, Daniel and David; great-grandchildren Azzurra, Sophia, Catherine, Calliope, Elliana, Alex, Danielle and Christa. Brother Ronald of Wyntrup, MA and sister Faye of Auburn, NY. (Midge raised Ronald and Faye after their mother passed at an early age). Several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Midge loved reading and traveling. She took many trips to Europe with her grandchildren and traveled across the USA with her family.
No immediate arrangements are made. There will be a graveside service later this year where she will be laid to rest in West Lebanon NH, alongside her husband.
