INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

Mascomaโ€™s Kondi wins girls shot put

Macoma Valley senior Georgia Kondi won the girlsโ€™ shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 11.5 inches at the NHIAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championship at the University of New Hampshire on Sunday.

Other finishes for Upper Valley teams included Hanoverโ€™s Grace Stewart (second, 3,000 meters) with teammates Aria Deeb (third, 1,500) and Alice Bell (seventh, 1,000)

Mascomaโ€™s Barnaby Diehn was second in the shot put with teammate Colin Meyers taking eighth and the Royals Carl Russell finishing sixth in the 3,000 meters. Callie Dixon of Newport finished third in the girlsโ€™ shot put and for the Lebanon boys, Oscar Gulledge was third in the shot put with Newportโ€™s Brady Minckler sixth in that event.

Hanoverโ€™s Alexander Collins was fifth in the 1,500 meters, Oliver Collins was eighth for the Bears in the 1,000 meters while Newportโ€™s Bryce Palmer finished seventh in the 1,000. Lebanonโ€™s Banipreet Kaur finished seventh in the girlsโ€™ 300 meters.

Lebanonโ€™s 4 by 200 relay team of Ryder Desharnais, Charlie Ferland, Gulledge and Teeghan Joyner finished eighth. Ferland was 10th in the 600 meters and Joyner was 10th in the 300 meters.

In the 4 by 800 relay, which were run on Feb. 1, Bell, Stewart, Deeb and Mia Severrild of Hanover finished fifth. The Newport boys 4 by 800 relay team of Tristan Hannum, John Wilkinson, Alex Couitt and Palmer took seventh.

In the girls team scores, Hanover finished eighth, Mascoma 11th and Newport 16th among 24 teams. For the boys, Mascoma was 14th, Lebanon 21st, Hanover 22nd, and Newport 23rd amongh 25 teams.

Oyster River won the girlsโ€™ championship and Coe-Brown is the boys champion.
