After a scorching hot start with 11 straight wins, Dartmouth’s men’s hockey team suffered its first loss of the season when they visited New Hampshire on Sunday and fell 3-2 in overtime.
Nathan Morin, who has since been named ECAC Rookie of the Week for the second time, scored in the loss and was assisted by Nikita Nikora and Tim Busconi. Ryan Schelling, who was assisted by Brock Cummings and Andrew Clarke, also scored.

Before Sundayโs defeat, the Big Green picked up their 11th win of the season against Army, 3-0, at Thompson Arena on Friday night. Jason Stefanek, Colin Grable, and Nikora lit the lamp for Dartmouth during the matchup. Roan Clarke had 19 saves.
Following this past weekend, the Big Green are now 11-1 overall, 6-0 in conference play, and are ranked eighth in the nation in the most recent USCHO.com poll.
The Big Green have a reprieve and will not take the ice again for a game until Dec. 27, when they host Arizona State as part of the Ledyard Classic.

Womenโs basketball continues strong start
The Big Green picked up wins in their last three matchups to extend their winning streak to five.
First, the Big Green pulled out a close 61-60 win on the road against NJIT last Thursday. Cate MacDonald led the way offensively for Dartmouth, scoring a team-high 16 points and adding eight rebounds.
Dartmouth then headed to New Rochelle, N.Y., on Saturday to visit Iona and came away with another win, 65-57. The victory featured four double-digit scorers, which included Zeynep Ozel dropping 14 points, Alexandra Eldredge and Olivia Austin with 11 points each, and Clare Meyer adding 10 points.
Then on Tuesday morning, the Big Green hosted Franklin Pierce and claimed a 68-50 victory. Eldredge and Nina Minicozzi led Dartmouth in scoring with 16 points each. Debra Hill also had double-figures with 14 points.
The Big Green are now 8-2 overall and will look to continue their winning streak when they travel to New Hampshire on Saturday.
Womenโs hockey starts a win streak
Dartmouth started strong on Friday, routing a visiting Saint Michael’s, 10-0. Ella Inglis scored twice in the matchup, while Hailey Maguire, Bridget Pringle, Izee Powell, Meredith Jensen, Dayton O’Donoghue, Shae Messner, Hamilton Doster and Sophia Chard each added a goal.
The Big Green followed that win up with another on Saturday, 4-2, against visiting Saint Anselm. Jensen scored twice, while Cally Dixon and Sydney Putrah scored once.
Dartmouth is now 4-10-2 overall and 2-6-2 in conference play. The Big Greenโs next game is on Jan. 2 at Vermont.
Menโs basketball splits latest matchups
Last Tuesday, the Big Green visited Colorado State and were defeated 76-55, marking their second straight loss. Kareem Thomas led Dartmouth in scoring with 12 points.
However, Dartmouth recovered and snapped its short losing streak on Saturday, defeating Boston University at home, 77-64.
Thomas once again was the Big Greenโs leading scorer with 22 points. Jayden Williams, who had 18 points, and Brandon Mitchell-Day, who had 15 points, also got into double figures for their squad.
The Big Green are now 4-5 overall and will look to pick up another win when they visit Holy Cross on Tuesday.
Womenโs soccer athletes make All-ECAC squads
Ola Goebel was named to the All-ECAC First Team after a season in which she was fourth in the nation in save percentage at .894. Stephanie Lathrop, who led the Big Green in goals with nine, was named to the All-ECAC Second Team.
Menโs and womenโs track and field host Dartmouth December Invitational
On Friday and Saturday, Dartmouth hosted the Dartmouth December Invitational, where a program record was broken.
Winston Morgan broke the above mentioned record in the 300m. Other program records were nearly broken during the meet by Mariella Schweitzer in the 300m and Jada Jones in the 60m.ย
Dartmouthโs next meet is also at home on Jan. 10 for the Ivy vs. America East Challenge.
Swimming and diving competes at Collegiate National Open Water Championship
At the event in Sarasota, Fla., Izzy Mundee was the top finisher for the women in 13th place. Tommy Erwin earned 23rd place to pace the men.
The Big Green is on the road to face Penn and Yale on Jan. 9 and 10.
Volleyball athletes receive CSC Academic All-District recognition
The awards from the College Sports Communicators, earned by Kauany Gutz, Maddie LaFata, and Sophia Gagnepain, are given to athletes who start at least 66% or play in 90% of games and have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
