I am heartbroken as I watch this great country being systematically and illegally ripped to shreds, as I see who should be the leader and protector of our democracy, becoming a world-wide menace and embarrassment.
I have to believe that most of the folks who voted for Donald Trump did not vote for a cruel would-be king in a golden palace. I do not believe they voted for their inability to afford health insurance, or a home or food for the table. I do not believe they voted for the destruction of the White House, which is the People’s House, not the president’s house. I do not believe they voted to starve their less fortunate neighbors who depend on SNAP. I do not believe they voted for reduced or no access to vaccines and health care for their children.
This president has turned on the people who put him in power. He cares nothing for anyone else but himself. He is even using the military against the people of this country! He is stripping away basic human rights. This affects everyone — Republicans and Democrats and independents. No one is safe from his insatiable appetite for more power and money.
If you voted for Donald Trump but you did not vote for this cruel destruction of our society, which is happening at an alarming pace, please make your voice heard. Stand up and be counted in whatever way you can. Call your representatives, call your friends, join others who love this country and what it has stood for for 250 years. Stand up for the United States of America that our ancestors fought for and perhaps gave their lives to protect.
