Families of children with disabilities often face overwhelming challenges when trying to secure the educational support their kids need and deserve. Navigating school systems, understanding complex laws, and advocating at IEP or 504 meetings can be confusing and isolating. That’s where the Special Needs Support Center (SNSC) steps in.
Since 1979, SNSC — based in White River Junction — has been a lifeline for families across the Upper Valley. Its Advocacy Program connects parents with knowledgeable volunteers who help them understand their rights, prepare for school meetings, and build long-term advocacy skills. The goal is simple but powerful: to ensure every child with a disability has access to the education and support they need to thrive.
But the need is growing — and so is the call for community support. SNSC is actively seeking volunteers: retired teachers, social workers, professionals with system experience and anyone with compassion and time to give. Volunteers attend meetings with families, offer emotional support and help bridge communication with schools.
This is meaningful, rewarding work — and it changes lives.
If you’re ready to stand with families and make a real impact, please contact SNSC at 603-448-6311 or visit snsc-uv.org. Your voice and experience can help a child be heard.
