Enfield, N.H. — Yoshisuke “Niki” Nakano, 79, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016. He was born in Kariya City, Japan to the late Kohmatsu & Sadako Nakano on Nov. 9, 1936. Niki grew up in his home town Kariya and graduated from Tokyo University. In 1964 he came to the United States as an exchange student and earned his PhD from Syracuse University. He began working for CRREL and retired after almost forty years of dedicated service. He enjoyed his years at CRREL and received many awards for his research.

In 1985, he was married to Midori Fujiwara in Enfield where they have made their home ever since. Niki was passionate about nature and created a wild life sanctuary in his own yard with many plantings. He enjoyed visiting antique shops where he could find furniture, porcelain pieces and china. He and Midori enjoyed the research of each piece to find its origin.
