WOODSTOCK — Windsor resident Jack Tissiere came in third place in the 2025 People’s Choice Award in Billings Farm & Museum’s annual quilt exhibition.

Tissiere’s quilt, titled “Maybelline,” features a multi-colored cow.

“I grew up in a cow-loving family. As a descendant of dairy farmers, maybe that’s to be expected,” Tissiere wrote in a description of the quilt.

The project began as a gift for the artist’s parents to hang in their new house with the rest of their bovine art collection.

“Maybelline was my first try at collage piecing, and my first real attempt to combine my years of dabbling in painting with my years of dabbling in quilts,” Tissiere wrote.

First place went to “My First Garden” by Petra Williams of Wilmington, Vt., and “Reach for the Stars” by Gloria Lowell of Benson, Vt., came in second, according to a Aug. 18 news release from the Woodstock-based nonprofit organization.

There were 1,564 ballot cast for the People’s Choice Award. The exhibition, titled “A Vermont Quilt Sampler,” will be on display through Sept. 1. Visit billingsfarm.org/quilt-exhibition for more information.
