Trump recently claimed that his federal takeover of law enforcement in Washington, D.C. has led to an increase in restaurant dining in that city. The problem is that, according to online reservation service “OpenTable,” just the opposite has happened. In the first few days of the takeover, many diners were apparently intimidated by the presence of National Guard troops and federal officers, so they did not go to restaurants in D.C.

Such lies are typical of our current president. Remember when fact-checkers during his first administration tallied over 30,000 lies or misstatements told by Trump in four years (compared to 19 told by President Obama in eight years).

People who support Trump may like some of his actions and policies, but why do they accept blatant lying? I would be angry if a salesperson told me that a product was going to work just fine and then it broke down as soon as I brought it home. I don’t like being lied to. Do you?
