Oakland Park, Fla. — Andrew L. Keeler, 99, of Oakland Park and Fairlee, Vt., passed on to his Lord on Monday, April 24, 2017, after a brief illness. Andrew was born on July 12, 1917, in Troy, N.Y. to Andrew L. Keeler, Sr. and Lena Balthazard Keeler.

He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. On Oct. 28, 1940, he married Catherine Jacobs, also of Troy.

Andrew was a manager of retail stores until 1966 when he joined the Cross Company in White River Junction, Vt. Andrew and Catherine settled in Wilder, Vt. then bought and ran the Wilder Motel until retiring to their home in Fairlee and wintering in Florida. He also worked at White River Paper Company and Quik Stop in White River Junction.

Andrew enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, playing games, playing piano, singing, dancing, doing crossword puzzles, playing pool, swimming, riding his bike, and attending the annual family gathering for a week at Hampton Beach.

Until recently, he drove himself to daily mass in Fort Lauderdale where he would receive Holy Communion and say the rosary with his prayer group. Andrew was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bradford, Vt. and St. Helen’s Church in Fort Lauderdale. He was a current member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Anthony’s Church in White River Junction.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years; by three sons, Andrew, John and Charles Keeler; his parents, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by Robert and Sandra Keeler of Enfield, Conn., Elaine (late Charles) Keeler of Nashua, N.H., Arthur and Christine Holmes of South Royalton, Vt., Paul Keeler and Isidro Sanchez of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Patrice and Brian Rogers of Underhill, Vt., Thomas and Cindy Keeler of Fairlee and Edward and Cheryl Keeler of Merrimack, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, Troy on Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m.
