She was born April 6, 1930, in Newport, N.H. a daughter of Ralph O. and Hester (Gonyea) Waterman. As a child Ginny’s family moved several times, living in various parts of the country. She graduated from Hartford High School, where she met William Manning. They were married Dec. 17, 1948, and spent the rest of their lives in White River Jct. She worked for a time after graduating high school as a telephone operator at New England Telephone before starting a family.
Ginny enjoyed people and was always looking to help others. She was very active in a variety of volunteer organizations that included the American Red Cross for over 30 years, a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls. She was also very active at the White River Junction United Methodist Church, where she was a member for nearly seventy years, including serving as treasurer, singing in the choir and making pies and working on countless church dinners.
In her retirement Ginny enjoyed working with her family at Blood’s Catering and will be especially remembered for her famous potato salad.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, in 1998 and is survived by her children, Donna M. Blood (Mike) of White River Jct., Kerry M. Crewson (Gary) of Orchard Park, N.Y., William A. “Butch” Manning, Jr. (Kim) of White River Jct., Wendy E. Manning of White River Jct. and Lisa M. Bushor (Tim) also of White River Jct.; a sister, Phyllis Gee of Albany, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Tanya Moffitt, Brendon Blood, Lee, Jeff and Jason Crewson, Scott Manning, and Jenna and Jillian Bushor; as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., on Friday July 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the White River Junction United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30 with burial following in the Hartford Cemetery.
