White River Jct., Vt. — Theresa Anne Baribeau, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016.

Theresa was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Franklin, N.H., the daughter of George and Mary (Millios) Barry. She graduated from St. John High School in Concord, N.H., in 1948. She then attended Mount Saint Mary’s College in Hooksett, N.H. where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics in 1952. She finished her training as a dietician following an internship at Mount Auburn hospital in Cambridge, Mass. She began working at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in 1954, where she worked for 34 years, and met her husband Romeo Baribeau. After retiring as Director of Dietary Services from Mary Hitchcock, she worked as a consulting dietician for Brookside Nursing Home in both Bradford and White River Junction and the Cedar Circle Hospital in Windsor, Vt. At the age of 70, retired from her long career as a dietician, she went back to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and worked at the information desk until age 80, where she enjoyed greeting visitors.

Theresa, a wonderful cook, led a very active social life too, and particularly enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, always happy to be a gracious host. She loved traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She also enjoyed hiking and twice completed the AMC hut system in the White Mountain Presidential Range. Theresa was an avid sports fan and especially revered her New England Patriots. She loved gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and attending wine dinners at Simon Pearce with her friends.

She will be remembered for her generous and compassionate nature, and ever present optimism and joy of life. She received great pleasure giving her love, time and resources to family, friends and many charities, never looking for recognition for doing so. She volunteered for the Hartford Garden Friends, the Upper Valley Haven, and St. Anthony Catholic Church. She lived a full life and will be missed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo M. Baribeau; sisters, Sophie Samaras of Lutherville, Md. and Eleanora Barry of White River Jct. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Andersen and her husband, Thomas and son, Thomas of West Lebanon, N.H.; her son, Mark Baribeau and his wife Cindy and children, Julia and Olivia of Wellesley, Mass.; and her son, Jamie Baribeau and his wife, Barbara and son, Alex of Brattleboro, Vt.
