Springfield, Vt. — Vermont officials are scheduled to hold a public discussion next week on the ongoing opioid crisis in Windsor County.

All are invited to intend to “join the conversation and learn how we can confront this issue together,” according to a news release issued this week on the event.

Springfield Police Chief Douglas Johnston will speak at the event, along with members of the state Department of Public Safety and representatives from the Vermont Intelligence Center. Officials will talk about the overall scope of the crisis in Vermont, its impacts and what law enforcement is doing to combat the issue.

There also will be a question and answer panel.

The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Riverside Middle School in Springfield.
