Mavis Nelson

Prescott, Ariz. — Mavis (Robinson) Nelson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept 11, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Nelson, and is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Nickson (Nick) of Santa Clarita, Calif., Marty Nelson (Skip Otterbein) of Prescott, and son, Arthur Nelson, Jr of Prescott; sister-in-law, Sara Nelson Loos (William) of Rochester, N.Y., sister-in-law, Ethel Nelson of Claremont, N.H.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several cousins and nephews.

Mavis was born on May 21, 1929, in Claremont, although she grew up in Windsor, Vt. She attended college at Northampton Commercial College in Northampton, Mass. Mavis and her beloved husband, Arthur Nelson, who grew up in Cornish, N.H., spent over 50 years in upstate New York. They frequently returned to Windsor, Cornish, and the family camp in Braintree, Vt. They were always excited to attend Windsor High School’s alumni-class of 1947 events! Mavis lived in Prescott for five years, however, she always considered herself a true Vermonter.

A burial service will be held at the Child Cemetery on Route 120 in Cornish on July 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following at the United Church of Cornish on Center Road in Cornish. Reverend Dale Nicholas will be presiding.
