Woodstock Woman Fills 2 Roles at Health Clinic

White River Junction — Christine Tschummi, of Woodstock, has joined Good Neighbor Health Clinic. Tschummi will hold two jobs at the free clinic, including outreach and enrollment specialist for the Vermont Department of Health’s Ladies First program, which encourages screening for breast and cervical cancer, and for cardiovascular risks. That role includes setting up free mammograms, pap tests, and heart health checkups for eligible Vermont women, and providing referrals to free nutrition counseling, health coaching and smoking cessation programs.

She will also be the new navigator for Vermont Health Connect under a grant to the Vermont Coalition of Clinicsfor the Uninsured, of which Good Neighbor is a member.

As navigator, Tschummi will be available to help qualifying people understand their health care options and find health plans that meet their needs and budgets, according to a news release from Good Neighbor Health Clinic. “This is a vital community role at this time of uncertainty over the future of health care in our country.”

Tschummi brings “impressive and extensive” related experience to the positions, including counseling beneficiaries on Medicare and Medicare fraud, and explaining and aiding enrollment in drug plans,the release said. “The Good Neighbor Health Clinics and Red Logan Dental Clinic are proud to have such a well qualified professional join their team of doctors and volunteers to provide free medical and dental services to those in need.”

For three years, Tschummi was the market place assister for ServiceLink in Grafton County, providing residents with help related to the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act. She volunteers with Senior Solutions as a Medicare counselor for the State Health Insurance Assistance Program.

Before coming to Vermont, she worked for years in California with programs for the elderly.
