Hopkinton, N.H. — Marcel “Chuck” Orleans, 74, of Hopkinton, passed away on Tuesday August 23rd at St Joseph Hospital in Nashua surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born in Newton, Mass. on March 1, 1942 and lived in various places while enlisted in the United States Marine Corps prior to moving to Merrimack in 1984. Chuck belonged to Trout Unlimited and Fly Casters Association as a fisherman and also enjoyed hunting especially Caribou and Moose hunting with his brothers in northern Maine.  He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, tying flies for fly-fishing, cutting wood; he was just an all around outdoorsman. Chuck had earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and had a career as a Principal Engineer at Kollsman Industries in Merrimack, N.H. from which he retired in 2006.

Chuck leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years Karen Orleans of Hopkinton; a son Brian Orleans and Angie Newhall of Orwell Vt.; daughters Brenda Orleans of Croydon N.H., and Jean Shaw and her husband Justin of Charlestown N.H.; a step daughter Katie Knight and her husband John of Hudson N.H.; brothers Edward A Orleans and his wife Lena of Merrimack N.H., Richard M Orleans and his wife Mary of Nashua NH, and J David Orleans and his wife Charlotte of Merrimack N.H.; sisters Dorothy Levesque and her husband Gerard of Nashua N.H., and Helen Nichols and her husband James of Hudson N.H.; grandchildren Benjamin and Hanna, Nicholas, Leah, Prett, Lexi; step grandchildren Trevor and Morgan, and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was also predeceased by a brother, Robert W Orleans, a sister-in-law Susan Orleans, a son-in-law Lyle Batchelder, and a daughter-in-law Cindy Orleans.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday Aug. 28 from 1p.m.-5 p.m. at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack NH. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday Aug. 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack with burial at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Chuck’s honor may be made to Trout Unlimited, Merrimack River Valley Chapter or Fly Casters Association, Nashua N.H.
