NEWBURY, Vt. — A teenager is in critical condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center following a single-vehicle crash on Snake Road on Wednesday morning, according to a news release from Vermont State Police.

State police troopers and emergency medical personnel extracted Sierra Longmoore, a 17-year-old Newbury resident, from the SUV she was driving, a 2006 BMW X5, after a crash that totaled the car on Wednesday a little before 8 a.m. DHART transported Longmoore, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, to DHMC.

The incident is under investigation, but police said speed is believed to be a factor.
