West Lebanon, N.H. —
She was born to the late Harry Ryan, Sr. & Clara Lackey on December 25, 1928, in Ashuelot, N.H.
She was predeceased by her mother, Clara; her loving husband, Carl P. Foster; her brother, Harry Ryan Jr.; her son-in-law, Albert Martin; her granddaughter, Andrea Martin; and her companion; William Jarvis.
In addition to her brother, Ray Ryan and his wife, Alice of California, Peggy is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Martin of Zephyrhills, Fla., Marjorie Godfrey and her husband, Timothy of Lebanon, Pippa Crudele and her husband, Jim of Uxbridge, Mass.; and her son, Burton Hadlock and his wife, Jane Murphy, of Montreal, Canada. In addition, she leaves her special niece, Linda Lee Therrien of Meriden, N.H. She is also survived by stepsons, Greg Foster, John Foster, and Steven Foster and his wife, Pat. She enjoyed a special friendship with former husband, Edward (Nip) Hadlock and his wife, Dolly.
Peggy worked in retail for much of her life. She and Carl owned the Kitchen Cupboard in Group Habitat in West Lebanon for many years. She then became the manager of Bedazzle in the PowerHouse for over twenty years. She had a passion for meeting and accommodating customers, many of whom became longtime friends.
Peggy was a proud grandmother to Ryan Martin, Kelly Martin Moynahan, Elizabeth Godfrey, Jenna Godfrey, Margaret Hadlock, Jessica Hadlock, Joshua Hadlock, Nolan Crudele, Caroline Crudele, Thomas Crudele, and her great granddaughter, Emma Bonner.
Peggy treasured time spent with family and friends. She was an avid reader. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and following the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
Peggy was a strong, compassionate and unique person with a wonderful sense of humor and love of life. She particularly had a knack for being a good listener, a great friend and always kept her door open to everyone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and devoted friend to many.
She will be sadly missed, but reminds us, “Listen with your heart and I will always be with you.”
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, July 7, at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday, July 8 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon.
