Lebanon
With Keene Post 4 challenging in the top of the eighth inning, Perkins got the call in relief to get out of a bases-loaded jam. A half-inning later, the Lebanon High School product launched a three-run home run to left-center field to give Post 22 a 4-2 victory.
In the completion of a game that started on Tuesday but was called after six innings tied at 1-1 by thunderstorms, Keene (4-8) took a lead in the eighth and could have done much more. Relieving starter Trey Parker, pitcher Dash Fukuskima recorded two one-out walks and threw a first-pitch ball to another batter, leaving Post 22 coach Rob Woodward to send Justin Smith in his place. When Smith added a third walk to load the bases, he tapped Perkins’ shoulder and Perkins struck out the next two batters he faced to end the threat.
Kyle Hammond opened the home eighth with a bunt single. Parker tried to move him over on a sacrifice attempt, but he reached safely when the Keene catcher overthrow first base, allowing Hammond to reach third. Perkins then drilled the first pitch he saw over the fence for the game-winning home run.
Perkins accounted for all four of Lebanon’s RBIs and joined Kegan Silovich in posting a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Lebanon finished with 10 hits as a team.
