Lebanon, N.H. —
Allen was a 32nd degree Mason, a Master Sergeant in the United States Marines and an aerials photographer during World War II. For many years he served on the Lebanon City Council representing the constituents in Ward 2. He was employed as a supervisor for Granite State Electric where he worked until his retirement. Allen lived in the Upper Valley for most of his life and was known as an avid sportsman and loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was known mostly by his family as being a great cook and they always enjoyed the special holiday meals and beverages that he prepared. He was a member of both the American Legion Guyer-Carignan Post 22 and Franklin Lodge #6 F & AM.
He is survived by his eldest daughter, Cheryl E. Sweet and her husband Bruce, his son, Allen E. Monica, Jr. and his wife, Fran, youngest daughter Kathleen E. Landrigan and her husband, Mike. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Allen E. (Jug) Monica represented the “greatest generation” with distinction. He was loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends forever.
Family and friends are invited to the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Monday May 15, 2017, at 10 a.m. for a Masonic Ceremony. A graveside service will follow at the Gleenwood Cemetery in Lebanon at 11 a.m.
